Duner Beach Gear — beach equipment rental search, Virginia Beach to Ocracoke
Filters run in your browser and aren't available right now. Every provider is still listed below, A to Z, each with the towns it states it serves.
1 — Where are you staying? optional — leave it blank to search the whole coast
How location counts work
Counts show companies that list service to that town or region — not availability, and not compatibility with your dates or a company's own conditions. Choosing a region searches every town under it and counts each company once, never the sum of its towns; each company's card names the towns that company serves, never the region.
2 — What do you need?
How matching works
Counts show companies matching that choice, not live availability. Picking a category matches anything in it; picking specific items narrows the search. Some results may still require you to confirm an item or service area with the company. Partial matches are shown only when the “Companies matching your selections” group comes back empty; they are not counted here, and neither is the community-only option.
3 — How do you want it?
4 — Compare & book each card links to where that listing takes bookings — their price, their terms

Nobody pays to appear here and nothing is ranked by quality, popularity or payment.

Know a company we're missing?
Who gets listed — and how companies are added
Tell us about a company — we review a submission against what the company itself publishes before anything goes up. A census is a search, not a register, and small operators can stay easy to miss. The census behind this page found 66 local beach-gear companies and swept the coast from Virginia Beach to Ocracoke. Of those, 2 rent only to their own communities, so the counts above read 64; they sit under “For qualifying communities only”, and the 2 national Marketplace options are listed on their own again. Operators who work only through Facebook, phone, or property managers can stay invisible to any search.
A beach-gear company serving the towns on this page is listed here if it is trading, states what it offers and where on its own site or page (for 4 of them, a fact came from a third-party listing we checked instead), and rents gear you take with you. Companies whose equipment is only used at their own location — a waterfront rental where the board stays on their beach — are experiences rather than gear rentals, so they are not listed on this page. Money decides nothing: nobody pays to appear, and nobody is left out for declining to. Duner charges nothing to appear and sells nothing on this page.
The company's name is enough — add its website if you know it.
How we handle what you send — this box has no email field, so we can't reply to it.
Something wrong with a listing?
If you run one of these companies — or you found something out of date — email hello@dunerbeach.com and say what is wrong. Corrections and removals are handled the same way whether or not a company has any commercial relationship with Duner. A company that asks to be removed is removed, no questions asked: we confirm by email and take the listing down.
Common questions about beach-gear rentals
What's the difference between delivery, daily beach setup and store pickup?
Can I search for several kinds of gear at once?
Does Duner show prices or live availability?
Can I rent equipment for one day or for a full week?
Does Duner take bookings or payments for beach gear?
Which companies list service to Carova and the 4WD beach?
Can I borrow or rent a beach wheelchair in the towns Duner covers?
How current is this information?
Where does this information come from?
Listings here are built from what each company publishes publicly (one service-area fact on this page was confirmed with the company by phone). A correction is checked against the page each company publishes for itself — its own website, a marketplace storefront or a social page — and published with an updated date. Company facts on this page last reviewed August 2026 against the same pages. Some facts about 4 of them come from a third-party listing rather than a page the company publishes. Public beach-wheelchair information is sourced from the City of Virginia Beach, the Currituck County Department of Travel and Tourism, the Town of Duck, the Southern Shores Fire Department Auxiliary, the Town of Kitty Hawk, the Town of Kill Devil Hills, the Town of Nags Head, the Town of Manteo and the National Park Service for Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
