Filtering is temporarily unavailable. All providers are listed below — confirm service to
your town with the company.
1 — Where are you staying? optional — all towns show until you pick one
Counts are companies that list service to that town — not availability, and not
compatibility with dates or each company's own conditions.
2 — What do you need? pick a category to open it — a bold group chip matches any item inside it; a specific item narrows exactly
Beach equipment
Bikes
Watersports
Baby & kids
House needs
Golf carts & scooters
Counts show companies whose listings cover that pick —
near matches needing a confirm included; partial covers (shown only
when the “Companies matching your selections” group comes back empty)
and the community-only option aren't counted. Method chips count exact
matches only; town counts stay fixed whatever else you pick. None of
these mean availability.
3 — How do you want it? delivered to your rental, set up on the beach daily, or picked up by you
4 — Compare & book direct every company listed links to its own site — their price, their booking
Groups run best-evidence first: companies matching your selections, then those to confirm an item with, then options limited to qualifying communities, then companies covering part of your list, then the ones whose service area we could not confirm — full covers first, partial ones last. Within a group companies are listed A–Z, except the two partial-cover groups, which lead with whoever covers the most of your list. Nobody pays to appear here and nothing is ranked by quality, popularity or payment.
Company descriptions summarize what each
company publishes about itself, checked against its own website on the date shown
on each card — we checked the page, not the practice.
Cover everything you selected — confirm the exact item
These companies serve your search and list the matching category — but not the exact item for this option. A quick ask when you book.

Cover everything you selected — service area not confirmed
Their sites don't state whether they serve your location — confirm directly with the company. For a walk-in shop in this group there's no delivery area to confirm — its rows say where you collect.

The census behind this page found 27 active local operators, and it is a
search rather than a register — recent sweeps have still turned up companies earlier ones missed. Operators who work only through Facebook, phone, or
property managers can stay invisible to any search. If you know one, tell us — we review every
submission against the company's own site before anything is published.
A beach-gear company serving the
northern Outer Banks is listed here if it is trading, says on its own site what it offers
and where, and rents gear you take with you. Companies whose equipment is only used
at their own location — a waterfront rental where the board stays on their beach — are
experiences rather than gear rentals, so they are not listed on this page. Money decides
nothing: nobody pays to appear, and nobody is left out for declining to.
The company's name is
enough — add its website if you know it.
If you run one of these companies — or you are a
visitor who found something out of date — email hello@dunerbeach.com
and say what is wrong. Corrections and removals are handled the same way whether or not a
company has any commercial relationship with Duner — none of them do. A company that asks
to be removed is removed, no questions asked: we confirm by email and take the
listing down. A correction is checked
against the company's own website and published with an updated date. Listings here are built from what each company publishes publicly, plus one service-area fact confirmed with the company by phone; Duner
charges nothing to appear and sells nothing on this page.
Common questions about Outer Banks beach-gear rentals
What's the difference between delivery, daily beach setup and store pickup?
Delivery means the company brings the equipment to your rental for you to use during the rental period. Daily beach setup means a crew places the equipment on the sand and takes it down each day. Store pickup means you collect and return the equipment yourself. Choose Any method to compare all three.
Can I search for several kinds of gear at once?
Yes. Select everything you need, even across different categories. Duner first shows companies matching every selection. If none does, it shows partial matches and identifies what each company does and does not cover.
Does Duner show prices or live availability?
No. Prices, schedules and inventory change too often for Duner to keep them reliably current. Duner shows companies that list the selected service in the selected town, then links you to the company for current pricing, availability and booking terms.
Can I rent equipment for one day or for a full week?
Rental periods vary by company and equipment type. Some offer daily or custom-length rentals, while others require a weekly rental. Check the company's current terms before booking.
Does Duner take bookings or payments for beach gear?
No. Duner is a search and comparison tool. You complete any reservation and payment directly with the local company or national marketplace, and Duner does not collect your payment information or add a booking fee. National marketplaces are clearly labelled.
Which companies list service to Carova and the 4WD beach?
As of our August 4, 2026 check, Corolla Beach Services lists daily beach setup, and Ocean Atlantic Rentals lists equipment delivery — both in Carova and the 4WD area. Carova service follows company-specific schedules, seasons and delivery terms — confirm the details directly before relying on it. See the Carova results.
Can I borrow or rent a beach wheelchair in the towns Duner covers?
Town-run programs are confirmed in Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head. In Southern Shores the chairs are lent by a local volunteer organization rather than the town. Terms differ (cost, reservations, chair limits) and are listed with that town's results. Duner has not identified a town program in Duck — the block below quotes the source checked for each. We could not confirm one either way for Carova (4x4), Corolla and Kitty Hawk — check with the town before relying on one. Find a beach wheelchair shows the programs we could confirm from official sources alongside private rentals.
How current is this information?
Each company result shows when its information was last checked. Duner reviews published company facts against the company's own site, and public wheelchair-program details against the responsible town, county or program source. Service areas, schedules and offerings change — confirm current details and availability directly with the company.
